On September 15, 2023, during half-time at the high school football game, Logan Hunton was announced as Armuchee High School’s Class of 2023 Homecoming King. At the highly anticipated homecoming game, the representatives walked onto the field at half-time where the crowning took place. When he was announced, he said that his heart stopped. Logan was sure that one of the other representatives won. Homecoming King is an annual award given to the male senior who receives the most votes from the student body based on the impact they have. Factors that students take into consideration while voting are intentionality, loyalty, dedication, and involvement. Olivia Taft said, “Logan is friendly and kind to everyone. He is intentional with getting to know his classmates.”

Hunton has influenced those around him. Emily Garrison, a freshman, said, “Logan is a very hardworking individual. He inspires me to work harder.” According to Hunton’s peers, he motivates those around him. Hunton said, “Being voted as Homecoming King means I’ve had some kind of impact on my peers.” Logan’s diligence is applied to every extracurricular and class that he has made an effort to participate in.

Hunton is a stand-out student because he can accomplish assignments while being actively involved year-round. Logan is a member of the band, academic decathlon, and Key Club. Hunton’s dedication to the work that is given to him and the extracurricular activities he chooses to do is a reason his classmates chose him to represent Armuchee High School. Mrs Floyd, one of Hunton’s teachers, said, “Logan has been an active member of the school and community by being involved in academics, athletics, and clubs. He works hard in every aspect of his life.”

The everyday actions prove to people what is at the heart of a Homecoming King. Armuchee High School’s principal, Joseph Pethel, has made it known to the students that leaving a legacy is important and valuable. Hunton said, “I want to leave the legacy of togetherness. Community means so much to me because I value creating a bond with the people I see from day to day.”  Mr. Bates, Hunton’s band director, said, “Logan has a big heart, and he loves his classmates. He would do anything for them.” Hunton is known to be loyal to Armuchee, and he wants all the students of today and the near future to treat each other with respect and love.  Senior, Jessie Moore said, Logan Hunton has the biggest and kindest heart.” Seeing him be crowned as king made her happy because he proved he was qualified to take on the role of Homecoming King.
