On November of 2025, Garrett Bourg received the Armuchee High School (AHS) senior superlative for “Most Original.” The superlative of “Most Original” is awarded to those who exemplify the idea of one possessing exceptional and unique qualities that allow them to live an authentic life. When Garrett heard the new, he was surprised and honored that his classmates recognized his unique talents. “I just appreciate all my classmates finding me to be the most original person… I appreciate being noticed, no matter the superlative,” Bourg said. Joseph Wofford, a fellow superlative awardee and close friend of Bourg, said, “My favorite quality of Garrett’s character is his courage, he is not afraid to stand for what he believes and that shines through his everyday life by his religion and music.”
At Armuchee, Garrett is involved in Academic Decathlon and the Work-Based Learning (WBL) program at AHS; Garrett works at his mother’s spa for WBL. Outside of AHS, Garrett has an extreme passion for all fields of music as well as cars. “what actually makes me feel unique is just the abilities that I have been gifted, musically in the talents,” Garrett said. Melanie Floyd, one of Garrett’s closest teachers and Armuchee High School’s teacher of the year, said, “Much like Henry David Thoreau, Garrett ‘hears a different drummer’ and ‘step[s] to the music which he hears’ He is a true individual who marches to his own tune, and that quality makes him exceptional.”
After high school, Garrett plans to move to Nashville, Tennessee where he will pursue a career in music. When asked to elaborate on his plan, Bourg said, “I’m gonna work with some people I know up there that are in the music industry to help me pursue my dream and have a chance at actually making it.” Garrett’s advice to the underclassmen was, in his own words, incredibly simple. “High school’s most enjoyable with friends, so stick with your friends,” Bourg said. Garrett wants to be remembered as someone who was not dedicated to himself, but to others first and foremost.
