For this year’s 2025-2026 Armuchee High School girl’s basketball season, two players, Kelsey Arp and Josie Harris, stood out this year for their accomplishments. This season, Josie broke the most three-pointers in a game at Haralson County. Kelsey broke the most steals and assists in a game at the Armuchee home game against Gordon Central.
The Lady Indians went 14-12 this year, marked by the teamwork and hard work ethic that all of the girls contributed to. Senior Tori Vitello, when talking about Josie and Kelsey, said, “I’m super proud of them; they worked super hard, and they deserved every bit of it.” The three-point record at Armuchee has stood at eight since 2003, and was tied in 2015. For Josie to break this record is a massive milestone in her high school career. Coach Barwick said, “It was so special because she works so hard to put in extra shots and practice and just to see that pay off was so special.” Josie says that breaking this record makes her feel accomplished, and she credits the support of her teammates and her family’s support to helping her break the record. Josie said, “I felt very accomplished and excited and supported by our teammates and our families.” However, Josie does not think that her record breaking days are over, and she believes that she can do it again. Josie said, “It makes me excited, makes me want to challenge myself, and I’m excited for next year.” Josie sees this record as a challenge, and as a way to push herself to continue getting better in her game. Josie is very excited and very ready for next season. She’s ready to work harder not only for herself and to break her record, but also for her teammates and to help the team win next year. She also has hopes of helping the team make state again next season.
On February 3rd 2026 against Gordon Central High School, Kelsey Arp broke two school records. She broke the assist record with 16 assists and the steal record with 11 steals. The assists record Kelsey broke was set back in 1982. The steal record she broke was set back in 2006. Now, these records are not just a one person job. Coach Arp said, “What was more special about seeing these records being broken is that they require a team effort. For example, to earn an assist, the player you pass to has to make their shot with two or less dribbles.” Coach Arp believes in hard work and teamwork. When asked about this exciting accomplishment, Kelsey said, “My teammates made me feel so special and they worked so hard to get me those records.”
Both Josie and Kelsey’s accomplishments are big milestones in their careers, seeing as both girls are juniors, with another year left of high school basketball. Many people are excited for the future of Josie and Kelsey and the Lady Indian’s basketball team. Coach Arp said, “I am excited for both of the girls to only be Juniors as it gives them a chance to break and set a record again.” The Armuchee community is hoping for a big upcoming season from both girls next season and hoping for another trip to the state playoffs.
