This school year, Michael (Mikey) Aldana recieved the senior superlative for “Most Athletic.” Mikey was nominated by his peers as the most Athletic senior boy in Armuchee High School’s Class of 2026. While mainly focusing on soccer, Mikey is considered very well-rounded when it comes to his overall athletic abilities. Omar Santos, junior, said, “he has a wide variety of athletic skills.” It is not only through his athletic prowess alone that won Mikey the most athletic. When asked how he feels Mikey embodies his superlative, Emilio Hernandez, one of Mikey’s close teammates, said, “His work ethic; he’s always determined to be better as an athlete, especially in soccer, and he’s always wanted to help others around him.” Mikey’s teammates claim that it is through his hard work and dedication to soccer that secured him the “Most Athletic” superlative.
While Mikey mainly focuses on soccer inside of school, he also works as a barber. “He’s a great barber. I love his haircuts,” Emilio said when asked to describe Mikey. When asked if there was any superlative that Mikey felt would complement his character outside of “Most Athletic,” he said, “That would definitely be ‘Best hairdresser’.” After Graduation, Mikey plans to go to Georgia State University where he will pursue a career in soccer and major in business. Mikey’s biggest role model in the realm of sports is Lionel Messi due to Messi’s own hard work and strong dedication to soccer.
When asked to best describe Mikey, Emilio said, “He’s just a very fun and energetic person with a good work ethic.” It is not just Mikey’s fun and entertaining personality that has affected so many of his peers. “Mikey’s always been there for me,” Omar said. It is through Mikey’s actions of reliability and integrity that his class and teammates feel adds to his character in ways beyond his physical prowess. Through his commitment to both his sport and his team, many of his classmates could not imagine a better senior to fill the role of “Most Athletic.”
