Senior student, Carlie Wolfer, has left a lasting impact on Armuchee High School by pursuing the concept “WE>ME”. Throughout her years in highschool, she has been involved in drama/theater, Basketball Cheer, Chorus, Yearbook, National Honors Society. She has managed to balance this all out along with seven AP classes, a job, and dance classes. Throughout all of this she continues to persevere and hold her head up with a smile on her face.
Miss. Williams, the drama teacher/basketball cheer coach, who also is an ELA teacher said, “Carlie juggles a lot of things. She still makes time for it all including social time, and time to study”. Well, Carlie said “By not procrastinating I don’t wait until the last minute. Taking things bit by bit as they come”. In her strategies she has been capable of attaining good grades, opportunities, and a positive social environment.
One of Carlie’s achievements has been through the drama program. Carlie has been the lead role for two play productions and has the lead role for the upcoming production called, Snow White. Carlie has gone to state for drama her freshman and sophomore years. She said, “ State was an exciting and nerve racking experience at the same time. I felt proud of myself and the talented people beside me who I got to perform with”. Carlie isn’t just self involved but looks out for many others around her and strives to make others feel welcome and important. She is proud of her peers who are involved in her extracurricular activities and helps provide them with a leading example through her decision making. Miss Williams said, “A lot of underclassmen look up to her. She’s a positive voice for them; her peers greatly respect her because she always puts 100% into everything she does”.
In another way Carlie has positively impacted those around her is through Basketball Cheerleading. A sophomore on the Basketball Cheerleading team, Olivia Casey, said, “She’s a role model and sets the example for how we’re supposed to act. Her school spirit influences the team and her positive attitude overall makes the experience a much more enjoyable one”. For example while some mistakes were made during the one act performance, Carlie remained positive that they were going to perform well. Others will look to Carlie because of her positive attitude and how contagious it is amongst her peers and teachers. This has created others’ experience here at Armuchee High School to be much more pleasant. Miss. Williams said, “Carlie has been a very positive experience here at Armuchee. She is a very trustworthy and reliable person, and brightens my day everytime she comes into my room”. She hasn’t only affected the students here, but the teachers as well through her hard work and the positive attitude she has carried with her continuously.
Through future generations that come to be high school students at Armuchee, Carlie’s consistent efforts have carved a path for others. Not just through Carlie’s actions, but from her results that are produced by what she does. Her results are what motivates others around her to have more determination. History teacher, Mrs. Ratledge said “She’s all the things you would want at this age in order to be successful later on”. Throughout her late nights studying; tests she has taken, grades accomplished, and many other achievements, she will earn herself a successful future. As Mr. Pethel says “We are building a legacy of excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead”, Carlie has proved herself worthy as a very fitting example of one of the many students here who everyday have more accomplishments that shape their futures.
