At Armuchee High School on March 28, 2025, 40 students attended a field trip to the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta. The World of Coke is an exciting museum that has many interesting attractions, all of which follow the history and success of the Coca-Cola brand. Exhibits at the World of Coca-Cola include the tasting room where students can try different Coke flavors, a mock up town where they can learn about the rich history of the soda brand, a scent discovery exhibit where they can guess which ingredients lie behind countless individual scents, and more. Due to its many exciting and informative attractions, students found this field trip very entertaining, and it allowed them to really experience what is currently being taught in their business and technical classes, such as business planning, product development, and marketing. Ninth grader Aubrey Smith said, “I got to learn more about the owner of the company, just like the assignments we do on different entrepreneurs in class.”
The World of Coke field trip was heavily related to the CTAE classes here at AHS. By witnessing the beginning of Coke as well as the brand’s thriving accomplishments, many students were able to see how business and entrepreneurship can have a lasting impact on the world. Mrs. Arp, one of the business teachers who supervised this field trip, said, “This field trip really helps correlate topics that we are studying in class and allows students to witness them in action for a successful company.” Ninth grader Angelina Khoja said, “I learned more about how brands can advertise their products and how businesses can affect the economy tremendously.” Other students found this trip to the World of Coke very inspirational. Jenna Taylor, a ninth grader in Entrepreneurship Essentials, said, “It really showed how Coke has developed over the years as a business, and I think that’s encouraging people like myself to pursue entrepreneurship.”
Every Business and Entrepreneurship student who attended this field trip had a different idea of what the best part was. Although, most of them were excited to be able to travel to Downtown Atlanta and taste all of the unique Coke flavors in the World of Coke’s tasting room. Ninth grader Fallyn Hinkamper said, “I really wanted to experience the tasting lab and see what people of different cultures enjoy on a daily basis.” Despite the fact that a lot of students enjoyed the tasting lab, not every flavor they tried was good. For example, one of the most disliked flavors by students was the Smart Sour Plum soda from China, because it tastes exactly like barbecue sauce. Jake Pope, a ninth grader, said, “They were all terrible. I think that’s what made the tasting lab so fun.”
Additionally, this trip was a great opportunity for students to explore a museum and learn new things with their friends. Ninth grader Dua Chaudary said, “This experience was very fun since I got to hang out with people I normally don’t get to.” Because they were surrounded by their friends, students were able to socialize and have a lot more fun than they would be able to inside the classroom. Aubrey Smith said, “My favorite part was the bus ride there and back, because we were playing games and talking about what we were expecting to do at the World of Coke.” Other people chose to say that having lunch at the Varsity was the most exciting part of the trip. Jenna Taylor said, “I enjoyed going to the Varsity and eating with some of my friends.” Whether they were most excited to learn about the history of Coca-Cola, experience noteworthy exhibits, or socialize with their classmates, every CTAE student was able to find enjoyment in this field trip.
The CTAE field trip to the World of Coca-Cola was beneficial to students’ education as well as fun for everyone involved. Currently, there is another CTAE field trip being planned for Business and Entrepreneurship students. Mrs. Arp said, “As a department, we also will tour Truist Park for a behind the scenes tour in sports marketing, business, and careers. This trip, along with the World of Coke, offers students real world connections.”
