As we approach the end of the 2024-2025 school year, AHS seniors are soaking up their last few months of high school in preparation for college. Everyone is getting ready for graduation in their own personalized way. Some students feel like they can relax and put their feet up, while others are working until the last bell. Some students are taking easier courses, partly because they worked hard up until this point. Those who feel like they can relax are planning fun and lighthearted ways to enjoy this time, now until May.

Senior Parker Campbell is organizing a seven to ten day trip through the Smokies.  He is hoping to be accompanied by his brother Matthew who will be home from college, along with Ellan McClain and Alex Beavers. Parker said, “It would be great to have this last trip before we go our separate ways.” While he doesn’t feel like he can stop giving it his all in classes, he is still making time to enjoy these last few moments before college. He is also  involved with his church and will be attending multiple events. Parker is excited for college and plans to continue working for his future, while still enjoying the present.

Shari Torres feels like she can completely let loose, planning on having a few great remaining months. She will be attending the wedding of the AHS drum tech, come late January, and is extremely excited for that opportunity. Shari also plans to go on a trip with her mother as bonding time, which would include the two of them making a commute to Yellowstone, because they have family there. A solo trip to Puerto Rico for around a week is also being considered, for it is in her bucket list, and is something she has wanted to do for some time now. She and a few seniors from the band plan on going on a senior trip to Orange Beach, Alabama, right as summer starts. They will be renting an AirBnB and have already packed their week full with activities and entertainment. Shari said, “This year has been so much fun and has prepared me for all the doors I haven’t opened. For the next few months, I plan on basking and enjoying the memories of high school

Similarly, Chase Ritchey has a full springtime to look forward to. He was surprised by his family with a week-long Miami vacation for his birthday. He said, “It was really cool to find out about this and be surprised. I’m extremely excited and looking forward to the time my family and I will share.” Along with the vacation surprise, he was also given something just as special to him. He will be watching the Savanna Bananas play baseball, which he is thrilled about because of how long the waiting list is for tickets. Chase feels like senior year is a lot less intense than the years before, and is preparing himself for everything college will hold. He feels grateful to be able to spend this time with family, and girlfriend.

All of the AHS seniors have something fun in store before graduation, and they all plan on sharing these last moments with those who matter. Whether they are going on extravagant trips, or just spending time with loved ones; every senior is packing their remaining time full. College may not be so far off, but the class of 2025 seniors are preparing themselves well.
