The boys basketball team has gone through many good as well as many tough moments as a team. Whether they win or they lose, at the end of the day they are still one team. The seniors on this team have been together for more seasons than anyone else on the team, and they work as if they have played together forever. The players and coaches all agree that they are strong leaders and good role models and will do anything to help their team succeed.
The seniors boys have made many impacts on their teammates. Sophomore Lawson Henderson believes that Trenton is a great motivation. He said, “Trenton acts as a good leader because he motivates us to be good players.” Even with a two year age gap, Lawson is still influenced by his older peers. When asked about the seniors, sophomore Carter Griffin said that “They are all very dedicated and hard working players that have given me something to look up to.” Carter also considered Will and Alyrik his friends because of the impact they have had on his time with the team. Being seniors comes with many responsibilities, one of the biggest responsibilities being acting like a team leader. With being the oldest it is expected by those younger that they lead their team to do great things such as winning and always being good sports. Trenton Cothran, senior player, said, “I always try to play my best during games and practices and set a good example for underclassmen because I looked up to a few seniors when I was a freshman too.” The class of 2025 seniors have proven their outstanding sportsmanship throughout this season by acting as the best possible role models they can be for their younger teammates.
Being on a sports team in high school is something that will never be forgotten for them and for the class of 2025 boys senior basketball plays it is something that they will for sure live with for the rest of their lives. Alyrik Wood, senior player, said, “I’ve had a lot of great memories over the years, but I think my senior year will probably go down as my favorite and the one I’ll remember the most”. Being on a varsity team can be stressful but at the end of the day it all ends up being worth it. win or lose, because you forever have the experiences you learned from and the memories you made with your teammates. Trenton Cothran, Colton McBurnett, Will Pethel, Alyrik Wood, and Jackson Hightower have proved that they are dedicated to their team and have shown that throughout their final season.
