AHS senior, Abbie Carson, was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by her peers as a senior superlative in early October. When Abbie found out she had been voted for this superlative she was over the moon. She said, “I was very excited and grateful that my peers thought of me for this title”. Being voted for this superlative has allowed her to feel more confident in her academic success, in return she feels as if her hard work has been recognized. Her classmates have shown through their selections that her hard work has equipped her to succeed. She said, “I have shown success in many aspects of my life including academics, sports, and extracurriculars”. Her involvements in NHS, Key Club, Student Leadership, FCCLA, and cheerleading, are examples of her determination for achieving acceptance to her dream school, UGA. Abbie plans on becoming a pharmacist after obtaining a four year degree in Pre-Pharmacy and attending Pharmacy school.
Abbie has been involved in numerous activities throughout the years, which has contributed to her recognition by her peers. She began cheering in the 3rd grade, while also getting enrolled into kaleidoscope in 4th grade. This set her on the right pathway for the academic and athletic route she would then set off to complete. She definitely agrees she was qualified for this superlative, and thinks the voting process was fair and her peers made an adequate decision. If she hadn’t gotten this superlative she believes that she would also be qualified for “Most Involved.” Abbie also said that her peer Carlie Wolfer would have been a good candidate for this position, seeming as how she is an involved and academically driven student with big goals for the future.
Students like Abbie who have involvement in various activities have to balance their daily schedule. This can look different depending on the individual, but for Abbie she had to maintain her academics while also performing well in her extracurriculars. Having a goal oriented mindset allowed her to be able to see the bigger picture and see where her hard work was leading. She said, “The biggest thing about balancing my schedule is definitely time management. There were some nights where I’d stay up really late to get work done, and then I found out that those nights weren’t really helping me, mainly just feeding bad habits. I really had to learn my schedule and what fit best for it, so I wasn’t burnt out but still got the work done.” Here at AHS we look forward to seeing what Abbie does with her future and being able to watch her succeed.
