Harper Dixon, an eighth-grade student at Armuchee High School, was voted “Most Athletic” by her peers during the annual class superlatives selection in 2024. The selection process spotlighted students who left their mark throughout the year, and Harper’s athletic involvement caught her peers’ attention. She said, “I play soccer, basketball, and volleyball.” She was committed to being active in multiple sports while also doing additional training. Harper reflected on her classmates’ choice. She said, “I think I got voted for it because I do play a lot of sports right now and I’m in weights.” Her commitment to sports was not limited to her participation, in fact, it extended beyond regular practices.
Harper not only participated in multiple sports but also spent additional time training outside of regular practices, including running at home, which set her apart from other students. While many students played school sports, Harper made a conscious effort to distinguish herself from the others. Each sport demanded different skills, yet Harper excelled in all three through her additional training efforts. Harper shared her unique approach. She said, “I put in work outside of practice times, and I don’t know if people do that too, but I feel like that’s something different that I do.” This extra commitment showed in her performance on the court, on the field, and in the weight room. While other students limited themselves to mandatory practices, Harper pushed herself further, arriving early to practice and staying late to work on specific skills. The combination of her three-sport participation, dedication to the weights program, and her additional training time proved why her classmates named her the most athletic student in their grade. Her approach to athletics showed that success came from the effort and dedication she put in, both during practice and outside of it.
