The superlative “Most School Spirit” is given to someone who shows a lot of pride and love for their school, and this year’s recipient fits that perfectly. Jack Pethel, he is at every school event, cheering the loudest, and making sure everyone feels excited and involved. When asked why he thought he were voted for this superlative he reflected on how much he sees this community to mean to his family. He said, “I think it is because everyone can tell what this school means to me and my family.” This shows how much the Pethel family truly cares about their school and community. Whether it’s supporting the sports teams or participating in spirit days, Jack is always there with positive energy and enthusiasm. He feels this superlative perfectly matches his personality too. He said, “I am very supportive and love the sports and the school, and to always show up.” It’s clear that his love for AHS isn’t just something he is showing during big events; it’s a big part of who he is every day.
Getting “Most School Spirit” made Jack happy and definitely more confident, even though he kind of expected to win this superlative because his friends had told him that he seemed a perfect fit. If Jack hadn’t won this, he felt someone else with a similar outgoing and supportive personality should have gotten it. However, it’s obvious Jack earned it because of how much effort he puts into making school events fun and exciting for everyone. Jack even said if he could create his own superlative it would be sports oriented. He said, “If I could make my own superlative for myself it would be “Most Likely to Win the Olympics,” since I have hopes of running in college.” Jack’s future plans might include sports, but he’ll definitely carry the pride and energy he has shown in school with him wherever he goes. This superlative isn’t just a title for Jack and the Pethel family, it’s a reminder of how much he has done to make this school a better and more spirited place.
