AHS senior Ethan Hernandez was recently awarded the senior superlative of “friendliest” for the Class of 2025. Anyone might be thrilled to be awarded this superlative and Ethan was no exception. He said,”I am very honored to have gotten the superlative I received. If I could choose a superlative that defines me, I would’ve chosen this one.” Ethan believes this recognition has motivated him to continue to be the friendly person he’s known as and always been. He said, “I really can’t think of any other superlative that better suits my personality.”
Ethan is involved in many extra curricular activities such as, soccer, cross-country, and FBLA. Over the years he has become good friends with his fellow classmates, teachers, and coaches, which he credits to his friendly nature. Ethan believes friendliness is one of the greatest ways to connect with people. He said, “Friendliness is a good quality to have because it opens up doors to friendships and relationships you might not have had otherwise.” If Ethan was able to create his own superlative to give himself, he would most likely name himself either “Most Welcoming” or “Most Caring.”
Ethan’s approach to friendliness is simple yet impactful. He said, “My outlook on friendliness, both inside and outside of school, is to greet everyone I see with a smile or a simple greeting. I treat everyone equally, no matter what.” He also said, “I continue to greet people and share a smile, and this award has given me a feeling of ‘I am doing something right.’ It has pushed me to be a friendly person who gets along with everyone.”
Ethan’s friendliness has left an impact both on and off the school campus. When asked if he could think of other people in his class who could win this award he knows there are definitely others who may be deserving of this title. He said, “There are for sure other people who are very friendly and welcoming who would be fitting of this superlative.” To many students, including Armuchee freshman Isabel Martinez, believe Ethan was a good choice for the title, and his superlative fits him like a glove. Isabel had Ethan as one of her chambelanes for her quinceañera and was able to enjoy her time more thanks to Ethan’s friendliness. He said, “He is a really outgoing, nice, and respectful person. During my quince, he was funny, kind, and knew how to dance.”
After graduation, Ethan plans to get a higher education and attend dental school. Later on, he wants to become a dentist and keep his friendly demeanor. He said, “When I become a dentist, I will help many people who are struggling financially and physically with their oral health. I hope to remain friendly and continue making good friends along the way.”
