Gabrielo Castro, an 8th grader here at AHS, was chosen as the “Most Reliable” 8th grade superlative by her peers this year. Gabriela seems to agree with her classmates’ choice. She said, “I feel like they chose me to be most reliable because I get my work done on time, I like to help others with their work, and they know they can always count on me.” She feels like she represents reliability and likes that people see that in her. Gabriela says she wasn’t expecting to be chosen by her peers. She said, “I definitely was not expecting that, no. I was really surprised because I didn’t think I was known well enough to get voted on.”
Even though she agrees that she is reliable, Gabriela expresses that she believes she also represents other qualities of the superlatives, and even superlatives that don’t even exist. She said, “I think, other than being the most reliable, I could’ve gotten the traveller superlative. I’ve been to a lot of different places and I like to travel, so it would be fun to get that.” Getting voted for this superlative lifted Gabriela’s spirits high. She said, “Hearing my name get called for one of the superlatives made me so happy. It was the last thing I expected to hear, but I’m glad it happened.” Gabriela has big plans for after she graduates in 5 years, hoping to become a veterinarian because she loves animals. She said, “My dream job is to be a veterinarian. There are some really good vets around Rome. If I don’t become a veterinarian, I think it’d be really fun to travel the world.” Gabriela describes how growing up in a close family helped her with learning about reliability. She said, “Me and my family are really close, and we’re always there for eachother when we need help. I think helping out with my family and trying my best to be there for them has helped me to become more reliable.” Being reliable seems to be a big thing in Gabriela’s family, so we can see where she gets her reliability. Reliability is an important trait to have, and being voted as the most reliable 8th grader shows how reliable Gabriela really is.
