Earlier in the first semester of school, senior superlatives were voted on by the senior class. There are many superlatives, including “Friendliest” and “Best Dressed”. One of the students elected for such superlatives was Elan McClain. Elan was voted as the “Most Likely to Succeed”, an honorable superlative.
Elan describes himself as charismatic and believes he was voted for this superlative because of his devotion to school and ensuring his success. He said, “I’m very devoted to achieving success in my classes and try to always work hard and find a clear path to success.” When Elan heard he was chosen for the “Most Likely to Succeed” superlative, he said he was very excited. He said, “When I found out I had been voted for this I was pretty excited, mainly because I didn’t expect to get a superlative.” Once he heard about his accomplishment, his first reaction was pure excitment. He said, “My first reaction was “Heck yeah! That’s pretty cool!” because I was just so excited.” Elan believes this superlative was perfect for him, and fits him very well. The only other person who he thought would fit the role better was Isaac Tucker, who also works very diligently and “chases the bag”.
Elan felt that the superlative he was given is accurate because of his hardworking nature and determintation. He said, “I see it as very accurate because I always work hard and I’m pretty determined to be successful in life.” He believed that no other superlative would accurately represent him, and he was very grateful that he received this honor. However, Elan did come up with some new superlatives that he thought would fit him well. These included “Most Likely to Chase the Bag” and “Most Likely to Have No Kids”.
Elan felt a little more confident in himself after winning such an important superlative. He said, “It made me confident in knowing that others see success within me and could vote me for this superlative.” Elan believed that his peers might have chosen him for this elective because he is a manager at Chick-fil-A and because he takes all honors and AP classes here at AHS. He figured that his commitment and devotion to his job, classes, and extracurriculars might have caught the attention of his fellow seniors, and therefore resulted in his election. After high school, Elan plans to continue his dedication at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and study in a form of engineering.
