The graduating class of 2029, currently 8th graders, is full of some very bright and knowledgeable students. One of these students in particular being Ellia McClain, who was given the 8th grade superlative of the 8th grade girl “Most Likely to Win Jeopardy”. One reason McClain believes she received this superlative is because of her known love of reading. McClain said, “I really love to read and I do it a lot, so I know about a lot of random things you could say. I think people voted for me because they think I know all these random facts and have trivia knowledge.” McClain takes honors classes here at AHS, demonstrating how she is a well rounded and dedicated student, so it was surprising to hear how McClain was so surprised that she received a superlative. She said, “I was fairly surprised when I found out that I had gotten this superlative. I wasn’t really expecting to get one in general because I feel like not too many people know me or would vote for me for a superlative.”
Out of all of these superlatives, McClain believes that this one is most suited to her, however if she had not received “Most Likely to Win Jeopardy”, she had another in mind that might suit her too. She said, “If I hadn’t received this superlative, I think most reliable would fit me as well because most of the time I’m prepared for class and willing to help my classmates if needed.” Overall though, McClain was satisfied and proud of the superlative she received, feeling confident that the qualities she possesses helps her to embody her superlative. One final question McClain was asked challenged her to reflect on herself, what are two words that she would choose to describe her best? She said, “I think two words that best describe me would be creative and different, and I think those fit my superlative too.” Congratulations Ellia on your superlative.
