Every school year, students around Armuchee High School all have the chance to participate in Key Club, an organization that’s meant to teach students what it’s like to take on the role of being a leader through various community service projects. Throughout the year, many students look forward to participating in several Key Club activities to put in service hours which they will carry with them until the end of a semester. Angelina Khoja, a freshman, said “I’m looking forward to many events like festivals and drives.” Many members appreciate the steps taken to give back to their community. Getting to know your community more is also what many students can look forward to when joining Key Club. Angelina Khjoa also said, “Annual drives and festivals let you give back to the community and connect with people you may not know.”
The many activities members of this club participate in are year round, and they attract people from all around the community. Lilith Dew, a senior, said “I always look forward to participating in the Holiday Hotcakes event, it’s just a lot of fun to be there and serve all the food.” Lilith has been a part of Key Club for 3 years, and joined because she said she wanted to get involved in volunteer work. The officers of Key Club like to keep people engaged, and Isabel Martinez, a freshman, said, “I think the people running the club are doing a really good job, everything is very well organized.”
Students are excited to start this new year of Key Club, and for many this is their first year participating. Kayden Johnson, a freshman, said, “I joined Key Club because it would look good on my college application.” There are different reasons for student participation in this program. Angelina said “I joined because I expect to improve many skills such as social work and communication.” Delilah Dew, freshman, also joined the club with goals in mind. She said, “I joined the club this year because it offers me the opportunity to help in the community and teaches me the value of volunteering.” All of these students also look forward to the many events and service activities as Delilah said, “Doing activities for the better of other people feels good to do while also giving us a chance to do something hands-on.”
Key Club is an organization that is all about giving back to people in need, while also providing students with work and volunteer experience, helping to shape students into better people for the sake of keeping our community together.
