2024-2025 Sophomore Student Leaders
Sophomore leadership positions at Armuchee High School, which were elected in September. All of the leaders agreed it is fun to help with making the decisions for the school. Along with the fun, leaders have many great obligations.
Kennedy Cape is the president of the class of 2027 at Armuchee High School. Being the president has many responsibilities. Many people think the main responsibility is to make the decisions, but the president isn’t the only one making the decisions. Mr. Pethel, the principal, said, “WE IS GREATER THAN ME.” Meaning it is better to work together as a team, instead of by yourself. The advisor of the sophomore leadership positions is Jennifer Doughtery, she said ,“Everything looks like it is just one role, but really these positions are about being a part of the team, and playing your part in the team, which can be a lot of responsibility, but is definitely worth it in the end.” The responsibility is not just making big decisions, it also includes smaller decisions, such as homecoming day themes, decisions about the dance, and the parade, as a group with the vice president, and the representatives. The main job of the president is to translate these decisions to the other grade student leaders. Kennedy Cape said, “ My job is to tell the council the decision we have made.” Telling the council and the other grade class leaders the decision is the biggest role the president has, which leads to little stress. Mrs Dougherty said, “Since there is little stress and it looks great on a college application, the president position is a great position to experience.”
The vice president, Briley Mullinax, helps with all of these tasks during the school year at Armuchee High School. The vice president assists the president in making decisions along with the rest of the leadership team. One really important benefit from the standpoint of the vice president is learning something new. Briley Mullinax said, Which means there are many opportunities to learn.
At Armuchee High School, the sophomore student leadership group has key members who play an important role in representing and supporting their class throughout the school year. Olivia Casey, serving as the media chair, is responsible for taking pictures for the yearbook to document events. The representatives, Kennedy Falk, Kelsey Arp, Josie Harris, and Ellery McClain, act on behalf of the student body, ensuring their voices are heard in leadership decisions. Additionally, Emma Kate Davis holds the position of secretary, keeping records and managing important information for the leadership team to stay organized. Each position has an opportunity to learn something different. Oliva Casey said, “I have the opportunity to see and be a part of the process that goes into running the school.” Ellery McClain said, “My favorite opportunity is to learn about leadership and the effect of positivity on the school.” Whereas secretary Emma Kate Davis said, “Being able to serve the class of 2027 in a different way that FBLA or FCA does not brings opportunities I like. It is cool to see how the representatives work together, bettering the school.” These different viewpoints from multiple roles all come together in supporting and influencing the school.
Students expect to put these positions on an application for college. These skills can be used in many lessons in life. With the skills you learn while having a leadership position, can get you far in life.
