Olivia Casey and Kennedy Cape are not only sophomores, but are also sophomores on the Homecoming court. Being voted on the court once by your peers in high school is exciting and one thing, but being invited on two years back to back is even more thrilling. Just knowing that because you represented your class so well last year that people want you to do it again is a big deal and honor. When asked about how they were feeling about being on the homecoming court Olivia said, “I’m so honored that I have the opportunity, and that I was voted in by my peers.” Kennedy said that she was thrilled for the opportunity to represent her class again.
Kennedy and Olivia have been friends since fourth grade, so being able to do this together is a good way to make their friendship even stronger. And while it’s a fun experience and a good excuse to get dressed up and hang out with friends you also get the opportunity to gain new experiences. When Kennedy was asked what she thinks she could get out of being on the court she said, “I’m excited to make new memories with my friends and my parents as I take this opportunity that i cherish so much” . Therefore though it’s exciting to put on a sparkly dress, sash and pose for a big camera there is more that comes with represent your school in such a big way. It’s also a huge honor to be voted on the court by your peers. People get selected based on how they represent themselves and the school, but more importantly how they treat others in their class. Lawson Henderson said he voted for Olivia because of her kindness. He said, “She is a very kind person.” And Chandler Stanley said he voted for Kennedy because of her character. He said, “She’s very nice, and I think she’ll do great things.”
This just proves how far a little bit of kindness can go. But also Addie Rittenhouse said that Kennedy is “very school spirited and is very involved in the school and is very school spirited.” Lots of preparation went into this one night. From Prades to hair appointments even fake tans. The night of the Homecoming game the two girls shined brightly walking across the field with Kennedy in her green dress and Olivia in black. With family walking alongside them, and friends cheering them on from every corner of the stands. For them this is a night they will never forget.
