Homecoming Week, September 30th through October 4th, was an exciting week at Armuchee High School. Students dressed up the whole week, and at the end of the week, there was an exciting football game and dance. The students at Armuchee High School like some days more than others. Trudy VanSise, 7th grader, said, “I was excited about Squad Day because I dressed up as crayons with my friends.” While Kailyn Therber, Freshman, said, “I looked forward to Adam Sandler day the most because I didn’t have to get ready as much, and I was comfortable the whole day.”
On Monday, students dressed up as minions. Cara Mullins said, “I really liked dressing up as a Minion the whole day. I had the Minion goggles on, a long-sleeve yellow shirt, and overalls.” While Cara Mullins wore a full-body outfit, Kailyn Therber said, “I just wore a yellow t-shirt for Minion Day.”
Squad Day is a day where students and teachers get to round up their friends and dress up with them. Trudy VanSise, 7th grader, said, “ Me and my friends dressed up as crayons for squad day. At first, we were going to dress up as Taylor Swift albums, but we didn’t have enough people to do all of them. We later decided that dressing as crayons would work way better. We had just enough people to do the whole rainbow of colors.” Easton Selman, 7th grader, and his friends also decided to dress up for Squad Day. He said, “Me and my friends had shirts with different Gen Alpha words on them like sigma, alpha, and skibidi toilet. It was really funny.”
On Throwback Thursday, people could wear an outfit that was in style a few decades ago. Some people dressed like they were from the 80s, 90s, even way back in the 1800s. Kailyn Therber, Freshman, said, “For Throwback Thursday, I wore a 70s-looking top from Amazon, a tank top under that, 70s sunglasses, and jeans to top it all off.” While other people, like Cara Mullins, Freshman, said, “I wore a George Washington costume with a big white wig.”
On Friday, teachers and students wore all pink. It was also the day of the homecoming game, and students were excited to see who would be homecoming queen and king at the end of the day. Trudy Vansise said, “I wore a pink t-shirt and some pink pants. I also had braided hair that I undid so that it could be wavy. I was really excited for the homecoming game because it was only the second Armuchee football game I’ve been to.” Finley Kelly, 7th grader, said, “For Pink out day, I wore a pink shirt, leggings and a pink hair bow.”
Even though students were very excited for Homecoming Week, a few had ideas of other themes for the future. Trudy VanSise, 7th grader, said, “If I had to make up another day for this week then I would pick Tribe Day. Everyone would dress in all blue and show school spirit. This would be perfect for a Friday because it would be the day of the homecoming game too.” Finley Kelly had a different idea. She said, “I think a good idea for next year’s Homecoming Week would be a Hawaiian or Beach themed. We could all dress like it’s still summer and put on leis, and those grass hula skirts.”
