Holidays offer a much-needed break from our normal school life, and for many students, they’re often a time for relaxation, excitement, and connection with family and friends. Holidays are much more than just the time off from school, they hold special significance, whether it’s the joy of unwrapping presents during Christmas, the thrill of getting to dress up as whatever you want on halloween, or the nice family time that is shared during Thanksgiving. Each student has a favorite holiday that goes with their personal traditions, memories, and the activities they enjoy on those holidays. The Armuchee building has many different people, grades, and a wide variety of different students with different religions and traditions they like to enjoy on certain holidays.
So what holiday is most favored by students here at Armuchee? Is it Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas? As we all know, Christmas is known as the birth of Jesus in the Christian faith, and many people love Christmas because of that and the family time. Trysten Holloway, a 7th grader, said, “I like Christmas because it snows and I like snow,” Now it doesn’t snow much in Armuchee, but it occasionally does and it’s a wonderful time to go outside and play out in the chilly weather. An 11th grader, Nehemias, said, “I like Christmas because of the good food.” Most families do have some nice food on Christmas eve, and sometimes even Christmas day. Braden Therber, a 12th grader, said, “My favorite holiday is Christmas because it’s a great time of year and I get to hang out with my grandparents, while also not having school for a couple weeks,”
There’s always a person who enjoys other holidays more. For example, Delilah Dew, who is a 9th grader, said, For most people, Halloween is seen as a time to hang out with friends and family. Out of the different students in different grades within Armuchee High School, Halloween was definitely not the most liked. However, Christmas wound up being the holiday that is favored the most by students, and not a single person even mentioned Thanksgiving. Everyone truly has their own opinion on things like their favorite holidays.
In the end, the results showed that holidays are more than just a nice break from school for most, they are opportunities for students to create lasting memories, embrace their cherished traditions, and truly find joy in both the little moments and the big celebrations. These celebrations hold special places in the hearts of the students. Each holiday brings something unique to the lives of the many students at Armuchee. These holidays shape student’s sense of community, family, and fun. From traditions passed down through generations to new celebrations created each year, students’ favorite holidays show what truly brings them happiness.
