In 2024, Jaycee Everett, Bella Kate Stockman, Colby Davis, and Makenzi Porter got moved up to the highschool with the rest of their class, their responsibilities as students moving up with them. These responsibilities include student leadership, where the middle school can be elected for class representative. The seventh grade class reps plan to make a positive impact on the rest of the school here at Armuchee.
The way things are done in middle school are a little different than how it goes with highschoolers, student leadership being one of these differences. Even though the seventh grade class representatives didn’t get to campaign the traditional way, with posters and snacks, that didn’t stop them from making an impact for their future positions. Jaycee Everett said, “I kind of just encouraged everyone to vote for me.” These class reps didn’t let the lack of campaigning hold them back, instead they decided to take matters into their own hands. Speaking of running, the students had a various amount of emotions while they were running for class reps. Makenzi Porter said, “I liked getting to write about why I thought I should be it.” In the process, running for class representative was exciting for these young students, especially because of their first time running.
Being in the highschool, the seventh graders have leveled up quite a bit since their sixth grade years, but now that they’ve moved up a school, they have a few more responsibilities, such as harnessing their own leadership skills of communication and organization to give the class of 2030 a good representation. With this, the students believe that they have the what it takes to represent their class. Jaycee Everett said, “I have good leadership skills and I am a friend to everyone.” While Makenzi Porter said, “I think I am a good fit, just because I like to organize and plan things really well”. It’s clear that these students are the perfect candidates for class representative, and they know it too.
The seventh grade class representatives have put in a lot of work to be in their position, and now that they’ve made it, they are happy to represent their class. Bella Kate Stockton said, “I think that it will be a good opportunity to be able to represent my class, and that I will be able to make some decisions for the class of 2030”. In the following school year, these students must rise to the occasion of their position.
When speaking with these young class reps, they’ve got the skills and confidence of true class representatives. Even though they are young, these seventh graders will make a huge impact and continue to do so for years to come. Makenzi Porter said, “I would like to run for president or vice president”. With many more years at Armuchee High School, these class reps want to do more with leadership in the future, such as class president or vice president. Regardless, the students have much more to come and even more opportunities for success.
