There are many great teachers at Armuchee High School. David Little, a dedicated math teacher at Armuchee High School, is loved by his students for his ability to make complex topics much more simple. Mr. Little has taught many different kinds of math. He has taught seventh grade level math all the way up to junior college level. Some of the subjects he has taught include 7th grade math, 8th grade math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, advanced mathematical decision making, pre-calculus, statistics, and technical college readiness math. This demonstrates his broad knowledge of math.
Mr. Little’s journey to become a teacher began early in his life. Mr. Little was raised in a small town in Alabama called Muscle Shoals. He describes his high school as very small, even smaller than Armuchee High School. Despite the small size of Muscle Shoals, he said, “There were more #1 songs recorded in Muscle Shoals than any city in the world in the 70s.” Mr. Little always wanted to be a teacher because he enjoys watching others learn skills they can use later in life. He’s not sure what other profession he would have chosen if he had not become a teacher. He has enjoyed the subject of math since he was a kid when his sister, who was three years older than him, began teaching him when he was very young.
Mr. Little has a good relationship with his students. Students say that Mr. Little is a good teacher and easy to learn from. He is fair and he explains concepts well. Even students who struggle in math find that Mr. Little’s class is enjoyable. For students struggling in his class, Mr. Little recommends asking more questions. He also recommends that students put their phones away and pay more attention.
Mr. Little is a good example of the many great teachers that students have the opportunity to learn from at Armuchee High School. Not only does he have a broad range of math knowledge, but he also has a lot of teaching experience. He is known for his fun personality and overall kind demeanor. This makes him easy to learn from and is one of the many reasons students enjoy having him as their teacher.
