Ms. Clance is the new guidance counselor for grades 6-8 at Armuchee High School during the 2024-2025 school year. Her job includes helping students with their academic, social, emotional, and personal development. She is a very positive and encouraging presence for middle schoolers in the building. Students describe her as funny, joyful, and wonderful.
Ms. Clance has been doing school counseling for approximately 5 years. She pursued a higher education at Dalton State, Atlanta Christian College, and Lee University. Before realizing she wanted to become a counselor, she went to school for business. Ms. Clance said, “I realized I wanted the human interaction that came with counseling.” She became a counselor because she enjoys behavioral studies, such as psychology and sociology, and helping others. She said, “I like listening to people because I feel like a lot of times people don’t have a lot of people that actually listen.”
Ms. Clance loves having the opportunity to be a counselor for middle schoolers. In her position as counselor, she is optimistic and hopeful. She said, “I usually try to be positive, but also a little silly.” Ms. Clance believes that there is always something she can learn from her students. She said, “Resilience and people’s stories are inspiring, no matter how many different stories I hear.”
Ms. Clance hopes to create a welcoming environment for all students, staff, and families in the Armuchee community. She helps students succeed by providing them with support, guidance, and encouragement. She said, “You may see me leading classes on study skills, facilitating small groups, and sitting in during meetings with students, staff, and families.” Ms. Clance is fond of the solidarity that surrounds the Armuchee community. She said, “I love the things like ‘we is greater than me’.”
Currently, Ms. Clance is getting acclimated to being a part of Armuchee High School’s staff, but she would like to facilitate more programs in the future. She said, “I would love to add more resources, information, and support for all students in ways that are accessible for everyone.” In her free time, she enjoys drawing and arts and crafts. She said, “I like art. I like a lot of art.” She also loves spending time with her family, a husband and two kids. We welcome Mrs. Clance here at Armuchee.
