Kohen Terry, senior at Armuchee High School, has an internship at the school with Coach Shane Arp. His internship takes up his fifth and sixth periods during the day. Kohen´s title is Athletic Director’s Assistant. When he is working at his internship he might set up for basketball games, football games, or take out trash. Kohen said he enjoys his internship. “It helps me get around the school and not be stuck in the classroom all day.” Kohen enjoys this because he can walk around and see different places throughout our campus while helping people out.
Kohen picked this as his internship because someone suggested it, and I thought it would be a really fun thing to do for the year. When someone brought this up as an idea for an internship, Kohen decided to go with it because it sounded like something he would want to do and something he would enjoy. Kohen said he would recommend this to other people even though it’s a lot of work. When Kohen is working, he is helping out the whole school, the teams especially.”He is helping out our school and community by preparing for our guests and sports teams on their game days. Kohen believes he is doing good things for himself and everyone around him. Not only does his internship benefit our sports teams by preparing for them but it also benefits the image of our school by being clean and looking nice when other schools arrive for a sporting event.
Kohen said his job brings a feeling of accomplishment after his work is done. He enjoys what he does even though his internship can be difficult at times. He said, “I find it being a lot more beneficial for me.” His internship has shown him the skills and the work ethic he may need later in life. These skills cannot be learned sitting at a desk and doing work on a computer or piece of paper all day every day.
