As the 2024-2025 school year has officially kicked off, the Armuchee High School Yearbook Staff has begun their hard work to capture as many activities as they can to display in one book at the end of the year. The excitement for the staff began in June at the Georgia Yearbook Expo in Athens, GA. Caroline Fletcher, senior, reminisces on the event and said, “I loved the cover art session we had with an artist. Kaitlyn, Coach D, and I all got to sit down and design our cover for this year’s book.” Fletcher, along with senior Kaitlyn Baty, is an Editor for the yearbook that is titled each year as “The Indian”. She has been on the staff since she was a sophomore. While participating in the Yearbook Staff, Fletcher has been able to master her interviewing and writing skills.
There is one week of the entire school year that is a favorite among the staff to capture: Homecoming Week. Briley Mullinax, sophomore, is a first-time member of the Yearbook Staff. She is most excited to take pictures for homecoming week. She said, “It’s such a busy week with so many things happening.” Fletcher relished in the upcoming excitement and said, “It is always so much fun to jot down.” The week of homecoming begins with five days of fun dress-up options and is followed by the crowning of Homecoming King and Queen under the Friday night lights as well as the Homecoming Dance on Saturday evening which welcomes anyone in grades 9-12 and recognizes the representatives from each class. It is sure to be filled with many opportunities to take pictures of the student body.
Not only is the Yearbook Staff able to capture many important moments throughout the school year; they are able to learn skills that will help them in the future. Mullinax said that she has learned that hard work gives you good results. Her role on the staff is to write captions and take pictures. She enjoys being on the Yearbook Staff because of the people. She said, “They are nice and like a family.” Fletcher enjoys getting to know her community through interviews. She said, “I especially enjoy being a fly on the wall and observing everything.” Her editor duties include: revising captions and stories, as well as having the final say as to what will be in the book. She has been able to gain leadership skills and unleash her creativity which she said “Is always beneficial in any life situation.” If someone were interested in joining the staff, Fletcher would tell them “It’s so much fun to get to know everyone and everything going on at the campus.” Mullinax plans to let prospective staff members know that “It will be a fun experience.” Mullinax has also been able to master her photography skills while being on the staff. The Yearbook teacher, Mrs. Dougherty is very enthusiastic about the upcoming book. She has one goal that she is excited to accomplish. She said, “I want to include 100% of the student body in the book.” The 2024-2025 yearbook will show true Tribe spirit!
The Yearbook Staff is truly an exciting time for the members but also for the community at Armuchee High School. We can’t wait to see what these girls have put together for the end of the year!
