The Middle School Homecoming dance was held at Armuchee High School in the aux gym on September 13th, 2023. The dance gave the middle schoolers a dance to attend since they can not go to the high school dance. Ten staff members helped out with the dance or helped with setting it up. Mrs. Burns, the event coordinator, said, “I love putting together the dance for the kids because I get to work with our middle school student leadership team to make it all happen.”
A lot of the middle school students went to the dance and had a good time while they were there. Many of the students that were there enjoyed the food and snacks. They had pizza, Reeses, Kit Kats, Skittles, M&Ms, Sour Patch Kids, and Twix. They also had some drinks like Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, and water. Walker Jenkins, an eighth grader, said, “My favorite part of the dance was the food and the half-court shot competition.” Several of the eighth graders said that the food was their favorite part, but many seventh graders said that the half-court shot competition was their favorite part. Connor Owens, a seventh grader, said, “The half-court shot competition was my favorite part of the dance.” Ryker Seratt and Tate Carney won the competition.
Middle School students wished the music and lights reflected a dance environment. They also hope next time that there would be more dancing. Jackson Burns, eighth grader, said, “I wish the music would have been better. All they played was Kidz Bop” And Jenna Taylor, a seventh grader, said, “I wish they would have dimmed the lights instead of leaving them on the whole time.” Rylan Burk, a seventh grader, said, “There could have been more dance and less talking or walking around with friends.” For the most part, they all had fun and enjoyed their time with their friends at the dance.
The eighth-grade students are excited about the high school dance that they will be eligible to participate in next year. The seventh graders said they will probably attend it again next year.
