On Wednesday October 18th the Varsity softball punched their ticket to go to the Elite 8 Tournament, held in Columbus next Thursday, October 26th. They move on to the next round of the State tournament. This will be the first time Armuchee High has been to Columbus. In the first game of the double header in the qualifying game, Livia Skinner, senior, got on base. Then Karson Fallin, senior, bunted Skinner over to second, they both advance on an error. Up next, senior, Lily Watson steps to the plate and clears the bases with a two out, 2 RBI Double. Temple came to the plate swinging the bat. They quickly scored 3 runs to take the lead 3-2 in the top of the second inning. The Tribe battled back and scored 2 more runs to get the lead back 5-2. Temple and Armuchee both played really good defense, as a result of that no one else scored. The final score of the first game was 5-2. In the second game, the Tribe wasted no time putting good at bats together, and scoring runs. The Tribe recorded 7 hits and 6 runs in the first two innings. Savannah Poole, senior, hit a home run to take the lead. Temple came back and scored 2 runs but that was all the Tribe allowed. The Tribe came back and scored 4 more runs to win the ball game in 5 innings. The Lady Indians will play Bacon County in Columbus on Thursday, on October 26, 2017.  The Tribe won the first game 3-2. They played Rockmart later that evening and lost 10-2 in 5 innings. Friday, October 27, 2017 the Tribe played Banks county and lost 3-0. With that loss the Tribe’s season came to an end. The Tribe finished out their season with a record of 18-13 and ranked 5th in the state for AA.
