Erene Castro, a senior at Armuchee High School, was awarded the Most Talented for senior superlative in the 2022-23 school year. Castro has talent in many areas such as cross country, soccer, piano, and dance, and she even speaks three languages which include English, Spanish, and Greek. Castro has been involved in these activities since she was a young girl. She began soccer at the age of 7 or 8 years old and continues to play on the Armuchee High varsity team.

Castro has been playing piano since the second grade, so also around age 7 or 8, and is still an activity she still enjoys. Dance became a big part of Castro’s life when she was just 5 years old but had to stop due to how expensive it was. Castro explains that juggling multiple talents does get difficult sometimes and many times practices overlap causing an abrupt change in schedule. Although Castro already juggles many talents, she would also enjoy learning to play the guitar. Aside from the activities she participates in at Armuchee, she also has been included in the National Honors Society, as well as in the Spanish Honors Society.

In Castro’s time at Armuchee, she has come to know our school for the meaning of family. Family means a lot to Castro, she said, “My favorite thing about Armuchee is how small and how it’s a close family, and it’s nice to know everybody.” Castro’s favorite memory here at AHS was her sophomore year when she was able to experience being a part of a team that had the opportunity to go to the championship. Castro said, “This is my favorite memory because we went from having such little goals to being region champs, but not only that, we went through the entire state competition.” The Armuchee soccer team approached the final 4 that year. Erene said that their team had completely changed and had more goals, both individually and as a team. Castro said, “ we had passed our goals, like three times.”

When asked what faculty member inspires her most in her time attending AHS, she said it is Scott Pierce. He is the head cross-country coach and teacher at AHS. She admires how he supports every team, not just his own. Castro said “ He always shows up, no matter where the game is, he’s there. He would bring candy to us after cross-country meets. I feel like he’s underappreciated.” Erene Castro represents Armuchee as being the most talented and is excited about her future after high school.
